We believe the truth of Scripture as summarized and confessed through the The Belgic Confession, Heidelberg Catechism, and Canons of Dort. At the center of this teaching is the Gospel: we are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.
We believe that worship is a meeting with God. God calls us to be with him and renews his covenant of grace by the power of his Word and Spirit. He speaks. We respond. Our worship services follow this biblical pattern of dialogue between God and his people.
The Triune God has called us to bring the lasting comfort of Jesus Christ to the peoples of Portland and beyond. Our passion is to bring the truth of God - his Law, his Gospel, and his Life - to a dying world. We do this through worship, discipleship, church-planting and missions.
The Simple Beauty of Reformed Worship
We meet for worship in a traditional church building. In this place, God calls us to worship and we respond with song, prayer, biblical preaching, and participation in the sacraments.
What is your only comfort in life and death?
“That I belong, both in body and soul, in life and in death, to my faithful savior Jesus Christ.”
The Heidelberg Catechism, Question 1
Our church exists to bring the comfort of Christ to the peoples of Portland and beyond.
We were planted in 2008 for this purpose. By his kindness alone, God has sustained and continues to grow the ministry of Grace URC.
